LCOS-SLM devices that can control the phase of light with high accuracy in 8-bit are used in a wide range of applications, from research applications such as the generation of optical vortices to industrial applications such as aberration compensation in microscopic observations and micro-code marking by multipoint branching.
HAMAMATSU LCOS-SLM (optical phase modulator) is a device that can freely control the phase of a laser beam electrically. The phase of the laser beam can be controlled in two dimensions by a structure in which liquid crystal is sandwiched between a CMOS chip in which pixel electrodes are arranged in two dimensions and a transparent electrode deposited on a glass substrate. The digital images output from the PCs are converted to analog signals by a dedicated drive circuit, and voltage is applied to the pixel electrodes on CMOS chip. This voltage tilts the liquid crystal molecules and changes the refractive index of the liquid crystal, thereby controlling the phase of the light irradiated to each pixel.

The X15213 series features a drive circuit and head section which are built into an enclosure making them ideal for research and development applications. The X15213 series offers an extensive lineup to meet the needs of various wavelengths. All types have a glass substrate with an anti-reflection coating and a CMOS chip with a mirror. Several types are available including Aluminum mirror, Dielectric multilayer mirror, Water-cooled and Sapphire type. Click here to see the full range of X15213 series.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I have two SLMs and I would like to ask regarding their damage threshold.
The first SLM is : LCOS-SLM X13138 series
The laser I am currently using is a Pharos laser with central wavelength 1026 nm, pulse duration 170 fs and Repetition Rate 1kHz.
I will also work with an NkT laser with a central wavelength of 1030 nm, pulse duration of 500 fs and R.R 50 kHz.
The other SLM IS: LCOS SLM X15213-03Br.
Could you please provide me with the information of the damage threshold of the two SLMs. Thank you very much.
Yours sincerely,
Stella Markogiannaki
Hi Stella
We are the Hamamatsu distributor in Australia. We are not sure where you are located. However, you can find damage threshold information on page 11 of this document: https://lcos-slm.hamamatsu.com/content/dam/hamamatsu-photonics/sites/documents/99_SALES_LIBRARY/lpd/application_note_LCOS_E.pdf
If you need further information then please provide the following information and we can check with the factory:
1) Actual part no. of X13138series. (X13138-xxx)
2) Average peak power and peak power of each laser used with X13138-xxx and X15213-03BR
3) The country you are located and company name if possible.
Regards
Stantron Team
